BINGO! £81,000! NATIONAL GAME JACKPOT HITS CASTLE NANTGARW
Lady luck smiled on Castle Nantgarw Bingo Club when Tracy Evans, an IT controller from Nelson Caerphilly, won £81,206.50 from the new National Bingo Game Jackpot!
The occasional bingo dabbler scooped the whopping cash prize on a Sunday night out with her sister and Bingo buddies, including the £25,000 National Prize and a £56,000 progressive Jackpot prize too!
Tracy's win came almost exactly one year on from receiving the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In the past year she has remained incredibly strong and positive whilst undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy, a full mastectomy and radiotherapy.
Tracy's positivity paid off. After her mastectomy she was told that there was no residual cancer in the breast and the chemotherapy has done the job. Tracy has one scan left and is looking forward to be given the all clear in the very near future.
Tracy was playing bingo with her sister and Bingo Buddy, Barbara Morris-Brown when she scooped the Jackpot on Sunday 23rd February. The two occasionally play at their 'bingo home' Castle Nantgarw, where their mother is a regular face, playing up to three times a week. It was a running joke between the three of them that Tracy was the unlucky one as she had never called 'house' on a game before.
Tracy says: 'I had rubbish 2013 and my whole family have been there every step of the way. My sister and I were in shares on the evening, anything we won that night belonged to the two of us - if I'd have won £10, she would have had £5. That's the kind of relationship we have and we wouldn't consider anything else.
'When I called 'house' everyone was amazed at how calm I was. I don't think I'd really realised what I'd won - It still hasn't sunk in. It really is a lovely end to what has been a really difficult year for me and my family.'
Tracy also revealed that she vows to spend the money wisely, but the sisters plan to treat their families to a trip to Disneyland Paris.
The team at Castle Nantgarw held a celebratory party for Tracy and all the club regulars on Sunday 2nd March. She was presented with the £81,000 cheque by Castle Bingo CEO, Jeffrey Harris and his wife Susan.
Tracy and sister were picked up in a Rolls Royce with Jeffrey and Susan Harris and escorted to the club for the celebration and private champagne buffet. The other 700 players were treated to free bubbly and dinner, courtesy of Castle Bingo, to mark the occasion.
Marcus Mclean, Club Manager said: 'We were all very excited by the new National Bingo Game Jackpot and were thrilled for Tracy when she won.
'We have a party for all our National Bingo Game winners but Tracy's celebration was particularly special as it's our first of the new National Jackpot prizes. It's also the biggest bingo win in Wales so far this year!'
Taking part couldn't be easier, simply visit your local club, or go online to find your nearest participating club and get down for a session!
