One lucky Leigh bingo player at BJ’s Bingo received an unexpected boost to his Tuesday night at bingo, when it became super-sized, thanks to winning a life-changing £50,000 on the National Bingo Game.
The winner, who has asked to remain anonymous, has become a regular at BJs Bingo in Leigh since joining in 2019. Introduced to bingo by their friend, who they usually go with, the retired winner was playing on their own on the evening of Tuesday 18th July and was not expecting anything more than the usual warm welcome and relaxed fun evening out at bingo. Their evening very quickly became extraordinary, thanks to the National Bingo Game.
Alan Clinton, Assistant Manager at BJ’s Bingo in Leigh who was there on the night said, “Our lucky winner is a regular at the club, who loves a bit of bingo and usually comes with the friend who introduced him to the club. On Tuesday 18th he decided to come along on his own.
“Everyone at the club was playing the National Bingo Game and as it is the big money bingo game everyone was listening carefully to the numbers called. When the winner made their claim so early in the game lots of people were expecting it to be a false claim, but they were wrong.
“The caller validated the claim, confirming that he had won not only the club prize but also a £50,000 jackpot prize. The club erupted into applause and cheers, congratulating the winner.”
The lucky winner commented, “I couldn’t believe it when the caller confirmed how much I had won! It took a few moments for it to sink in, but then I was thrilled. My usual bingo buddy, who introduced me to the club and bingo, was not with me when I won, but I will be sharing some of my winnings with them. I am a relatively new bingo player, thanks to my friend, who encouraged me to come along and give it a go and I am glad that I did! It’s a great reason to go out and whether I win or not I always enjoy myself.
“I have always been careful with money, but this means I will be able to splash out on a special holiday, which I am looking forward to planning and going on.”
Alastair Stewart, Head Of Commercial Operations at the National Bingo Game said: “We are thrilled for our lucky National Bingo Game £50,000 Jackpot winner at BJ’s Bingo Leigh and hope he enjoys spending his winnings and that special holiday! It’s always great to see a big bingo win, which is the beauty of the National Bingo Game.”
